Cold+Hot Hydrotherapy has been a intervention used for centuries for dealing with mental distress.

-Individual therapy: I specialize with anxiety, codependency, identity realignment or adjustment phases of life, depression, addictions, relationship struggles, avoidance, apathy and self criticism.

-Adolescent & Young Adult therapy: I create an exciting and action oriented approach when working with young people. We do not focus on just talking about the past or trauma. I help young people unlock the motivation to go on the Hero’s Journey to create their first identity and overcome their fears regarding becoming an adult. I offer intensive therapy for adolescents or young men who are in crisis to help them to get through to the next stage of their lives.

-Couples therapy: I focus on creating a therapy experience where each person focuses on how they can grow and to create a space for honest and logic based discussions about concrete ways to find solutions. This allows couples to have a place to truly hear each other and focus on what they can control, which allows for better outcomes. I focus on individual growth and logical dialogue and do not engage in typical emotional processing that creates circular and unhelpful results for couples. I believe each person needs to grow and work on themselves and the relationship will become what it needs to become.

-Customized Intensive Therapy : Intensive therapy is suited for individuals and couples who are at a transition point in their lives and are tired of being stuck in the same old pattern and need a reset to help them break through to the next stage of their life. Some people will come in for a 1-2 days intensive and others will do an intensive program that is spread out over months.

How is the Wilder Method different from traditional counseling?

Wilder Method is an assertive and straightforward approach that empowers people to identify what they want and what is missing and create a plan to acheive these outcomes. This approach is action oriented and lead by a visual and experiential experience that is not focused around talking about our feelings and past. This approach seeks to give direct and honest feedback and uses principles of logic to inform the discussions and how to move forward from the present moment. The goal is to identify what you are avoiding and begin to stop avoiding the very things that hold the keys to your future.

What population of people do you work with typically?

I work with people from all stages in life and with people with a wide variety of mental distress. My speciality is working though issues of launching into their first adulthood (16-23 year olds) and second adulthood (37-53 year olds) as many people are in need of help of breaking through barriers that hold them back from that next stage of life. I work with people looking to find the inner courage to empower them in the next stage of their life.

Why do you use cold water in your sessions? The Cold water is a powerful teacher and one teaches you of your inner strength and resiliency when approaching emotions and situations that you have been avoiding. Avoidance is one of the largest causes for anxiety and depression and so having a ‘in the moment’ fear stimulus helps you build the confidence to move toward the real fears in your life. The Cold water is not utilized every session, but it is a powerful healer an helps you release past messages that are locked in your body and find the courage to look your fears in the eye.

What if I do not want to do the cold but I want to learn more about your therapy approach? The cold water is utilized with each individual based on their goals and not all people use the cold water and while others use it every session. When people have resistance to the cold water we use this as something to explore and sometimes the immense amount of inner emotional pain makes the cold water feel unbearable. The goal is not getting into cold water but learning how to look the real world fears in the eye and trusting you will be ok in the midst of the fear.

What types of people find this approach helpful? This approach is helpful for those who have tried more traditional therapy approaches or who have no interest in traditional therapy. This approach is suited for people who want a more assertive, logical and direct approach focused on action. This approach utilizes disciplines of applied philosophy to help you learn to think for yourself and examine the underlying assumptions that keep you stucks so you can rewrite your inner software for deep change.
